Guangdong leads China in industrial robot production for six consecutive years

Guangdong Province has maintained its position as China's top producer of industrial robots for the sixth consecutive year, according to a provincial press conference held on February 6 that reviewed the development of the modern industrial system during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–2025).

In 2025, the province produced 336,300 industrial robots and 15.18 million service robots, accounting for 43.5% and 81.7% of the national total, respectively.

The press conference also highlighted that Guangdong's artificial intelligence core industry is projected to reach an output value of 300 billion yuan in 2025.

Robots are increasingly deployed across a wide range of sectors, including industrial manufacturing, urban services, deep-sea operations, high-altitude cleaning, medical rehabilitation, and elderly care, with both application breadth and penetration rate ranking among the highest in the country.

Moving forward, Guangdong will focus on joint research in key areas such as large-scale AI models, operating systems, and hardware, including dexterous hands and servo drivers. The province plans to establish a targeted investment promotion system for the embodied intelligent robotics industry chain to attract core suppliers to the region.

In the low-altitude economy sector, Guangdong's civil drone output increased by 39% year-on-year in 2025, representing over 90% of the national total.

The province is now home to more than 15,000 enterprises engaged in the low-altitude industry chain, which encompasses core components, whole-machine manufacturing, and operational services.

To support this growth, Guangdong has built 73 general aviation airports, over 3,500 low-altitude takeoff and landing sites, more than 66,000 5G-Advanced base stations, and 236 integrated sensing-communication base stations, with all of these metrics ranking first in the country.

In 2026, the province will further improve its infrastructure system by setting up 2,500 new drone landing points and 20 helicopter landing sites, aiming to build a smart networked system covering the entire region.

In traditional industries, the output of products such as color TVs, air conditioners, and refrigerators ranks first in the country.

Regarding modern infrastructure, Guangdong's high-speed railway operational mileage reached 3,411 kilometers as of the end of 2025, ranking first in China and reflecting a 65.2% increase from the end of 2020. Its expressway mileage exceeded 12,000 kilometers, also securing the top national position for the 12th consecutive year.
