The Los Angeles "Youth Friendship Ambassador" delegation visited Yuexiu Park and toured the Guangzhou Urban Park Exhibition Hall on June 17. They also wrote messages on postcards and put them into a "Time Capsule" to commemorate the youth friendship between China and the United States.
The delegation brought a congratulatory letter written by the Mayor of Los Angeles to the Mayor of Guangzhou and handed it over to officials of the Guangzhou Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, marking the 45th anniversary of the sister-city relationship.

The "Time Capsule"

Young people experience Guangdong's culinary culture.
In Guangzhou, the delegation interacted with faculty and students at Guangzhou City Polytechnic. The youths exchanged high-fives and hugs, as though they had been friends for years.
"When I first heard they (the Los Angeles youths) were coming, I was very worried that language barriers would hinder communication. However, once they arrived, I found we had many common topics to discuss, and communication flowed smoothly. " said Ye Zhihao, a freshman at Guangzhou City Polytechnic. "We didn't just talk about daily life. We also shared the excellent traditional Chinese culture behind our school's Ganquan Academy, such as Five-in-a-Row and calligraphy."
In Guangzhou, the young visitors from Los Angeles visited the Haixinsha Omni-Space Intelligent Experience Center to explore Guangzhou's technological achievements in cutting-edge fields such as the low-altitude economy, artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous driving.
Next, they will visit Canton Tower and take a boat tour along the Pearl River. In addition, they will stroll through Yongqingfang to experience the charm of Guangzhou—where a modern metropolis intertwines with its history as a millennia-old commercial hub.
They will visit Tianhe District to learn about its international neighborhoods and take part in making Dragon Boat Festival sachets. They will also watch the lively dragon boat "Zhaojing" (traditional dragon boat village-visiting ritual) and sample traditional dragon boat rice.
