The APEC Blue Citizen Community Summer School concluded on July 17 in Dongchong Community on Shenzhen's Dapeng Peninsula, bringing together more than 160 representatives from 12 APEC economies, as well as Cambodia, international organizations, and marine businesses.
During the three-day program, participants visited coastal sites in Shenzhen's Futian District and Dapeng Peninsula, learning about Dongchong's integrated land-sea management, mangrove conservation, and community-led marine protection.
More than 90 percent of Dongchong residents have taken part in volunteer activities supporting marine conservation, according to local authorities.
The event featured discussions on Blue Citizen Community development and international cooperation, a marine technology exhibition, and the presentation of volunteer certificates.
The program wrapped up just two days after Dongchong was designated an APEC Blue Citizen Community on July 15. This designation recognizes its efforts in marine conservation and sustainable coastal development.
