As night falls, dragon boat teams of Shiqi Subdistrict train on Zhongshan's Qijiang River. The sound of paddles, chants and drumbeats fills the air as the teams prepare for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Zhongshan) Dragon Boat Invitational.
Dragon boat racing has been a tradition in Shiqi for more than 500 years and was added to the Guangdong Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2012. The invitational will be held from June 19 to 21, bringing together more than 70 teams from across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
