Aizhu Canteen warms Foshan, serving free meals for three years

Tucked away on Xin'an Street in Chancheng District, Foshan, Aizhu Canteen, with Aizhu meaning "help with love", has provided more than 54,000 free lunches to elderly residents and people in need over the past three years, without charging a single cent.

Covering just 60 square meters, the public-welfare canteen operates on a simple principle—"If you need it, it's free." Founded three years ago by Zou Jingxi, vice president of the Foshan Aizhu Association, the canteen is supported by donations from generous individuals and volunteers.

Despite its modest size, Aizhu Canteen has increased its service from around 20 meals a day to about 80, becoming a vital support for elderly people living alone in the neighborhood. As the new year begins, the team hopes to open more branch canteens to bring free meals to additional communities.
