Macao-Hengqin Craft Market showcases regional collaboration in new indoor market concept

The four-day 2025 Macao-Hengqin Craft Market opened on June 12 at the Hengqin Culture & Art Complex, showcasing a new indoor market concept. The event attracted more than 170 creative and food vendors from the Chinese mainland, Macao SAR, Hong Kong SAR, as well as Thailand, Malaysia, and other countries and regions.

The event features five major sections: Creative Market, Themed Exhibitions, Art Talks, Performances, and Specialty Cuisine. A variety of live performances enhanced the vibrant atmosphere, offering a feast of art and culture for visitors.

This year’s market hosts 50 Macao-based cultural and creative brands, along with exhibitions of Macao’s intangible cultural heritage. Macao artists and cultural professionals also participated in the Art Talks to share insights into Macao’s creative scene and its unique cultural products.

The other showcases Macao’s intangible cultural heritage food techniques, where chefs demonstrated traditional cooking skills up close, delighting audiences with the charm of heritage cuisine.

Xu Jiaoli, founder of the Mirror Island booth from Changsha, Hunan Province, participated in Hengqin’s market for the first time, presenting her filigree art and resin crafts. “I usually take part in markets in the mainland, but rarely get the chance to ‘go global’. This event is like a bridge, allowing us to not only showcase our work but also connect and spark inspiration with creators from other regions,” she said.
