A high-value scenario workshop themed "AI + Manufacturing" for manufacturing enterprises was held at the National AI Application Pilot Base in Dongguan Binhaiwan Bay Area on August 28.
Focusing on real-world industrial pain points, the event featured practical discussions on AI applications in manufacturing, helping clarify priorities for corporate AI investment.
Unlike conventional AI technical training, the event steered clear of concepts such as large models and algorithms. Focusing instead on practical business considerations including cost control, production efficiency, product quality, order delivery, over‑reliance on experienced staff and operating performance, it identified AI application opportunities with practical implementation value from a business-first perspective.
The event featured targeted analysis of eight business scenarios covering the full business workflow of manufacturing enterprises: quality inspection, production process optimization, predictive equipment maintenance, production scheduling, supply-chain forecasting, R&D knowledge base, operational analysis and role-specific AI agents.
Dongguan has more than 14,000 industrial enterprises above designated size, 70 percent of which have embarked on digital transformation. Nevertheless, many small and medium-sized manufacturers in this manufacturing hub are constrained by practical bottlenecks in capital, technology and talent.
