On May 8, a conference to advance a new round of urban renewal and aesthetic enhancement was held in Chancheng District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. During the event, the Chancheng District Urban Aesthetics Promotion Center was unveiled, marking the first such center in the province.

The Center undertakes three core tasks. 1) Research: setting up a think tank and developing aesthetic standards; 2) Application: providing aesthetic guidance for construction projects; and 3) Implementation: promoting public participation, refining best practices, and disseminating lessons learned.
As the implementation and support platform for Chancheng's Architectural Art Program, the Center will further integrate resources from all sectors and pool professional expertise. It will participate in the design of major urban projects, enhance its capabilities for aesthetic evaluation, identification, design and application, and foster a society-wide culture of "knowing, loving, and creating beauty", ensuring that aesthetics are woven into every aspect of urban construction and development.
On the same day, Chancheng also announced the establishment of an Urban Aesthetics Development Think Tank, appointing 10 renowned experts in urban aesthetics, architectural design, culture and art as its first batch of chief experts to provide intellectual support for urban aesthetics development.
Since 2023, when it became the first in China to adopt "urban style" as its core development strategy, Chancheng has completed 360 style enhancement projects, revitalized 620,000 square meters of underutilized spaces, created 100 art venues, and attracted over 700 artists, designers and creative practitioners to settle in the district.
The new phase will advance four key initiatives: urban aesthetic renewal, talent gathering, industrial integration, and inclusive co-creation, elevating urban style from foundational growth to a new stage of high-quality development.
