On-site video

A vehicle caught fire near Shayuan Metro Station in Guangzhou's Haizhu District on December 1, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air and drawing public attention.

On-site footage shows fire stretching for dozens of meters.

Electric scooters parked along the roadside are burned down to their frames.

According to the Guangzhou fire department, the incident occurred at 13:41 near the entrance of Wuyi Xincun residential community, where a truck burst into flames. Firefighters extinguished the blaze by 13:54. No injuries or trapped individuals were reported.

Why did the fire spread across an entire street? Firefighters say the truck was carrying 2,400 liters of liquid paraffin, which caused a flowing fire.
