In recent years, Chaoyang District of Shantou City has devoted great efforts to improving the quality of greening along the expressways, national and provincial highways, and rural roads, with the aim of achieving "a unique scenery for each road." Thanks to these efforts, the roads stretching out their long arms and embracing each other have become beautiful scenic lines for Chaoyang to showcase its image and improve residents' quality of life.
Road of Haimen Town
Since 2024, Chaoyang has improved the quality of greening at five highway entrances and exits, including the entrances and exits of Jinzao Toll Station on Ningbo-Dongguan Expressway and Xilu Toll Station on Chaozhou-Shantou Ring Expressway. In these places, 865 trees of 10 varieties such as Ceiba insignis, Delonix regia, and Lagerstroemia indica "Red Rocket," and 1,199 shrubs of 5 varieties like Bougainvillea spectabilis Willd and Melaleuca bracteata "Revolution Gold" have been planted. Meanwhile, 8 types of groundcovers such as Schefflera odorata and Cuphea hookeriana have been installed, covering a total area of 26,739 square meters.

Moreover, Chaoyang attaches great importance to improving the greening quality at important nodes of the national and provincial highways. Saplings, including Bauhinia variegata, Tabebuia chrysotricha, and Cinnamomum camphora, have been planted along the Guangzhou section of G228, S234, and S237; groundcovers such as Orychophragmus violaceus, Coleus scutellarioides, and Lantana camara have been established, making drivers feel as if they are driving through a green sea.

In the future, Chaoyang will make more efforts to strengthen the connection and linkage among its local roads, trunk roads, expressways, and railways to form a more comprehensive regional road network and paint more enchanting ecological pictures.
