Wuchuan, a county-level city under Zhanjiang in Guangdong Province, is giving finishing touches to the upgrade of the Huaqiao (Flower Bridge) neighborhood in Shanggehai Village, a key project aimed at improving the urban environment while preserving local cultural heritage.

The renovation includes refurbished village entrances and residential facades, as well as new public facilities such as a community book bar, sculpture pavilions, and viewing platforms. The blessing pond and riverbank landscaping have also been enhanced to create more welcoming leisure spaces.
Intangible cultural heritage elements have been integrated throughout the neighborhood, with murals of the Pixiu Dance, clay sculptures, and scenes from local Nianli festivals enlivening the streets and transforming the area into a "cultural living room" for residents and visitors.
The upgrade is expected to be completed before the Chinese New Year, creating a new cultural landmark that blends traditional heritage with modern public space.
