Feng Zhonghua, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Guangzhou Municipal Committee, met Xu Gang, executive vice-president of Airbus and CEO of Airbus China, in Guangzhou on October 29 to discuss expanding cooperation.

Feng welcomed Xu and his delegation and thanked Airbus for supporting the city's development.
He said Airbus is a leading global aerospace company and an important partner for Guangzhou, with outstanding core products, strong technological capabilities and considerable influence in the industry.
As a major national gateway city and a key engine of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), Guangzhou has a solid manufacturing base, abundant innovation resources and strong demand for aviation-related industries, Feng noted, adding that there is broad scope and great potential for cooperation between the two sides.
He said Guangzhou will continue to open up its economy and develop emerging industries, including aerospace, advanced equipment manufacturing and artificial intelligence, as it builds a modern industrial system centered on advanced manufacturing.
Feng called on Airbus to seize the opportunities created by the GBA's development and expand its investment and operations in Guangzhou. Potential areas for cooperation include aviation materials and spare parts management, aircraft maintenance and modification, green aviation and helicopter-related businesses.
Feng also encouraged the company to bring more projects and advanced technologies to the city and attract businesses from across the aviation supply chain.
Guangzhou will keep improving its business environment in line with international standards and support companies operating in the city, he said.
Xu thanked Guangzhou for its support and outlined Airbus's operations and development plans in China.
He said Guangzhou is a key location in the company's China strategy, citing its dynamic economy, favorable investment environment and diverse industrial applications.
Airbus is ready to deepen cooperation with Guangzhou in aviation materials management, air cargo logistics and airspace optimization, Xu said. The company also hopes to work with local businesses to explore how artificial intelligence can drive industrial development and build smarter, greener and lower-carbon aviation supply chains.
Li Quan, director-general of Guangzhou Customs District, attended the meeting along with city officials Tan Minghe and Hu Hao and representatives of Airbus China.
