China Southern Airlines and Uzbekistan Airways have signed a codeshare agreement to expand flight options between China and Uzbekistan and enhance connectivity across Central Asia.
The agreement was signed on July 23 in Tashkent, the capital and largest city of Uzbekistan, covering routes operated by both airlines between China and Uzbekistan. Under the partnership, passengers will have access to a wider range of travel options on China Southern flights linking Guangzhou, Beijing Daxing and Urumqi with Tashkent. They will also gain access to Uzbekistan Airways flights connecting Tashkent with Guangzhou, Beijing Daxing, Urumqi and Hangzhou.
The deal follows a memorandum of understanding signed by the two airlines last year and marks another step forward in their cooperation. Uzbekistan Airways described China as a strategically important market. Meanwhile, China Southern said the partnership would help strengthen its regional network and support growing exchanges between the two countries.
Currently, China Southern operates a three-hub network to Tashkent through Guangzhou, Beijing Daxing and Urumqi, with peak combined capacity hitting 52 weekly flights. The airline is also developing Guangzhou and Beijing Daxing as major international hubs, alongside Urumqi as a key gateway in western China.
