Guangdong is expected to see another round of heavy rain and thunderstorms from May 13, with heavy to torrential rain and isolated extremely heavy rain forecast in some areas, according to the provincial meteorological observatory.

On May 13, Shaoguan, Qingyuan, and the central and northern parts of the Pearl River Delta are expected to see moderate to strong thunderstorms, with localized downpours. Heyuan, Meizhou, Zhanjiang and northwestern Maoming will see moderate to heavy rain. Maximum temperatures will range from 26°C to 28°C in Shaoguan and Qingyuan, and from 28°C to 32°C elsewhere.
From the night of May 13 to May 14, heavy to torrential rain, with isolated extremely heavy rain, is forecast in the Pearl River Delta, Heyuan, Meizhou, Shanwei, Jieyang, Yangjiang and northern Maoming. Zhanjiang is expected to see cloudy conditions with showers and thunderstorms, while other areas will see moderate to heavy rain. Maximum temperatures will range from 28°C to 31°C in western Guangdong and from 24°C to 28°C in other areas.
Authorities warned that Guangdong has entered its flood season, with more frequent rainfall expected in the coming weeks. Residents are advised to stay alert for slippery roads, reduced visibility, and other hazards caused by heavy rain and severe convective weather.
