The second phase of construction for the Songshan Lake Science City- Guangming Science City corridor in Dongguan has officially begun. This significant infrastructure project spans 2.4 kilometers and involves an investment of 787 million yuan, with an expected completion timeline of three years.

As essential components of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's comprehensive national science center initiative, both Guangming Science City and Songshan Lake Science City are set to benefit greatly from this corridor. The project reflects the commitment of both Dongguan and Shenzhen to enhance regional connectivity.
Designed as a vital urban transportation route, the corridor will facilitate travel between the two science cities, aiming to reduce congestion on major thoroughfares such as the Longda and Guangshen expressways.

Constructed to first-class highway standards, the corridor will have a design speed of 60 km/h. It will feature a dual six-lane configuration, with provisions for future expansion to eight lanes, ensuring that traffic congestion remains minimal for the next 15 to 20 years.
In conjunction with the current routing plans for Shenzhen, the corridor will connect directly to the northern extension of the Nanguang Expressway. The design includes two dedicated ramps for access from Guangqiao Road, streamlining traffic flow from Nanshan and other areas into Dongguan.
The corridor's alignment runs predominantly north-south and includes two tunnels and four bridges. It navigates through original mountain and forest landscapes.
Once completed, travel time between Songshan Lake Science City and Guangming Science City will be reduced to just 20 minutes. This development is poised to significantly enhance the movement of technological innovation and resources within the Greater Bay Area, fostering the flow of people, capital, and goods.
