Seven Macao graduates have begun a 12-week internship on August 3 in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, designed to strengthen professional skills for the Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking markets.
The programme is run by the Labour Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR and Hengqin’s Talent Development and Social Security Bureau and is delivered by the Service Centre for Economy and Trade between China and Portuguese/Spanish-speaking Countries.
The participants, graduates from institutions including the University of Macau, Wuhan University, and Renmin University of China, hold degrees in law, international relations, Portuguese studies, and public administration. Over the next three months, they will work in sectors such as data annotation, business translation, and administrative support.
Besides their work arrangements, the interns will tour several major industrial hubs and technological parks in Hengqin. These site visits are designed to give participants a first-hand look at Hengqin’s infrastructure, regional trade frameworks, and broader entrepreneurial environment.
As the only comprehensive cross-border service platform in China dedicated exclusively to Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking markets, the Service Centre for Economy and Trade between China and Portuguese/Spanish-speaking Countries has connected with over 800 enterprises and organisations as of July 2026. Additionally, the centre has organised more than 40 training sessions, drawing over 4,000 participants.
