Cross-regional passenger flow in GD exceeds 1.11b during 2025 Spring Festival travel rush

During the 2025 Chunyun - Spring Festival travel rush (January 14 to February 22, a total of 40 days), the cumulative cross-regional passenger flow in Guangdong province exceeded 1.11 billion, an increase of 5.5% year-on-year, accounting for approximately 12.32% of the national total, according to the Department of Transport of Guangdong Province.

Road passenger flow totaled approximately 1.045 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.38%. The non-commercial small vehicle passengers on highways and major roads reached approximately 980 million trips, up 5.73% year-on-year. Commercial road passenger transport totaled 65.5976 million trips, a modest increase of 0.48%.

Railway travel reached 50.6355 million trips, a year-on-year increase of 9.48%. Waterway passenger volume reached 5.4629 million, a decrease of 5.91%. Air passenger volume totaled 10.7268 million, a year-on-year increase of 6.16%.

The cumulative traffic volume on highways throughout the province reached 297 million vehicles, with an average daily traffic volume of 7.4353 million, representing an 8.7% year-on-year increase.

The traffic volume of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link reached 3.9922 million vehicles, with 161,100 vehicles recorded on February 4, setting a new historical high. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge saw a traffic volume of 559,300 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 19.61%, with 26,600 vehicles on February 1, also marking a new historical record.

The Qiongzhou Strait has fully implemented a vehicle reservation system for ferry crossings. Ferry passenger throughput saw 4.1443 million trips, down 14.3% year-on-year. Vehicles accessing Hainan Island via the Qiongzhou Strait amounted to 1.0609 million, down 6%. On February 4, vehicles to and from totalled 39,600, setting a new historical record.
