The 2025 Understanding China Conference is set to be held from November 30 to December 2 in Guangzhou.
Global politicians, scholars, industry leaders, and representatives from international organizations are invited to explore the theme New Plan, New Development, New Choices: Chinese Modernization and New Vision for Global Governance.
This landmark event will delve into the global significance of the 15th Five-Year Plan, innovative pathways for Chinese modernization, emerging opportunities for world advancement, and collaborative actions under the Global Governance Initiative.
So far, around 200 representatives from international and Hong Kong-Macao regions across 72 countries have confirmed their attendance. About 70% come from Global South countries, and 70% are attending the conference for the first time.
Among the participants are seven former senior officials at the vice-premier level or above, 11 minister-level officials, and five diplomats and representatives of international organizations in China. Overall attendance is expected to reach about 800.
A notable feature of this year's conference is the wide geographic representation of international participants.
"This year, there is a significant increase in delegates from Global South countries, showing the growing influence of the 'Understanding China' conference," said Xu Weixin, chairman of the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy. "It has become an important platform for Global South countries to learn from China's modernization experience and promote the building of a community with a shared future for humanity."
