The Asia-Pacific Media Forum opened in Shenzhen on September 5. At the forum, 16 Chinese and overseas media outlets, including Nanfang Media Group (Nanfang Daily), initiated the establishment of the Organizing Committee of the Asia-Pacific Media Partnership program.

At the forum, Nanfang Media Group also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indonesia's Antara News Agency and a strategic cooperation agreement with the Hong Kong-based English-language media outlet the South China Morning Post.
Huang Can, editor-in-chief of Nanfang Media Group, shared in his speech at the forum how the group seized opportunities and navigated challenges in the internet and AI era, while using international communication to bridge cultural divides. He highlighted three priorities: embracing innovation to stay ahead, creating new value through broader services, and putting people first at the heart of communication. In recent years, Nanfang Media Group has strengthened its new-media platforms, including Nanfang Plus, the South app and Nanfang Smart Media Cloud, while expanding its "news+" model to integrate news, culture, government services, business and other offerings. It has also built open platforms such as IP Guangdong, enabling users to co-create content and foster greater understanding. Huang said he hopes to work with more Asia-Pacific media partners to share regional opportunities, promote people-to-people connectivity, uphold journalistic principles and present the world with a real, three-dimentional and comprehensive Asia-Pacific.

Nanfang Media Group and Antara News Agency sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Under their MoU, Nanfang Media Group and Antara News Agency will cooperate in areas such as joint news interviews, coordinated content distribution, joint organization of cultural exchange activities and joint exploration of AI applications, focusing on themes such as development opportunities, technological innovation and cultural tourism in China and Indonesia.
Virgandhi Prayudantoro, director of News of Antara News Agency, said the agency looks forward to realizing high-quality content exchanges on text, image and digital platforms, conducting joint interviews on key topics such as trade, green energy, technological progress and cultural exchange, and establishing a regular mechanism for sharing technical expertise in digital transformation, newsroom innovation and AI capabilities to promote in-depth and solid cooperation between the two side.
Under their strategic cooperation agreement, Nanfang Media Group and the South China Morning Post will cooperate in areas such as joint content production, joinly holding promotional events at home and abroad and deepening collaboration on AI innovation, with the aim of joinly telling the world the stories of Guangdong, Hong Kong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with focus on key events such the 30th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland in 2027 and the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Framework Agreement on Deepening Cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to Promote the Development of the Greater Bay Area.

Nanfang Media Group and South China Morning Post sign a strategic cooperation agreement.
Zhang Jun, chief technology officer of South China Morning Post, on behalf of Tammy Tam, the publisher, signed the strategic cooperation agreement with Nanfang Media Group.
Tam said the strategic partnership between the South China Morning Post and Nanfang Media Group carries special significance as 2026 marks the APEC "China Year" and Hong Kong will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its return to the motherland next year.
Tam said the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is a major national strategy of great foresight with strong momentum, creating new opportunities and advancing partnerships across the region. She said the South China Morning Post is honored and pleased to forge a meaningful partnership with Nanfang Media Group and looks forward to exploring greater potential for collaboration through various joint projects, including comprehensive coverage of the Greater Bay Area and the whole country to audiences in the region and around the world.
