As the Chinese New Year approaches, cultural exchange between southern and northern China is heating up. From January 31 to February 1, Guangdong introduced its signature "Guangdong Products + Cultural Tourism" showcase to Harbin, one of China's most popular winter destinations, offering northern audiences a taste of Lingnan culture, lifestyle and festive traditions.

The event is part of the ongoing "Guangdong Goods, Global Reach, Celebrate the Chinese New Year in Guangdong" campaign, which combines high-quality local products with immersive cultural tourism experiences. By blending shopping, storytelling and travel inspiration, the initiative aims to connect cultural promotion with real consumer engagement, while encouraging people across China—and beyond—to discover Guangdong as a Chinese New Year travel destination.

Lingnan culture meets ice and snow
Harbin, currently at the heart of China's winter tourism season, provided a striking contrast to Guangdong's warm climate and subtropical charm. The Guangdong showcase took place at two iconic locations—Harbin's Central Street on January 31 and the Harbin Ice and Snow World on February 1—bringing a distinctly southern New Year atmosphere to the snow-covered city.

Visitors were welcomed by vibrant lion dances, Cantonese music performances and interactive cultural experiences. From festive photo spots to hands-on activities and surprise giveaways—including flight ticket raffles—the events invited locals and tourists alike to experience the warmth, color and energy of Lingnan culture up close.

A curated selection of Guangdong lifestyle and travel products
The showcase also featured a wide range of cultural tourism products from cities including Zhuhai, Shantou, Foshan, Heyuan, Meizhou and Qingyuan, alongside offerings from leading tourism enterprises in Guangdong.

Around 200 products from nearly 100 companies were presented, spanning Lingnan cuisine, intangible cultural heritage crafts, creative cultural merchandise and travel services. Together, they offered a snapshot of Guangdong's lifestyle—open, inclusive and innovative—where tradition and modern living coexist.

Each product reflected not only regional craftsmanship and flavor, but also the spirit Guangdong is known for: openness, creativity and a willingness to explore new possibilities.
An invitation to celebrate the new year in Guangdong
With its mild winter climate, diverse landscapes, rich culinary culture and lively New Year traditions, Guangdong continues to position itself as a welcoming destination for winter travelers—especially those looking to swap snow and ice for sunshine and warmth.

This Chinese New Year, Guangdong extends a warm invitation to friends from northern China and international travelers alike: leave the cold behind, head south, and celebrate the New Year in Guangdong—where culture, flavor and festivity come together.
