Foreign travelers account for over 40% at Guangzhou airport, setting record highs

As of July 6, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport had processed more than 4 million entries and exits by foreign travelers this year, up 34% year on year. Foreign nationals now account for more than 41% of cross-border passenger traffic at the port, with both the number and share reaching record highs.

The port has handled more than 10 million cross-border passenger trips so far this year, up 19.6% year on year and surpassing the 10-million mark 34 days earlier than in 2025. International flight movements have exceeded 63,000, up 14% year on year.

By region, ASEAN maintained steady growth, with more than 1.48 million cross-border passenger trips, up 32.6% year on year. Passenger traffic involving RCEP member economies exceeded 2.08 million, up 29.9%. Emerging markets, including the five Central Asian countries, Russia, and Algeria, recorded the fastest growth, with passenger traffic rising by more than 85%. Travelers passing through the airport now come from 198 countries and regions worldwide.

As China expands its visa-free policies and improves entry and stay regulations, more than 120,000 foreign nationals have entered China through the port and been granted stays of 30 days or longer under visa policies, up 12% year on year. The fastest-growing groups include business professionals on long-term assignments, long-term residents, and participants in study programs.
