Recently, the 2025 Uganda Hongmen Spring Festival Gala and the opening ceremony of the 2025 Uganda-China Tourism and Culture Symposium were held in Uganda.
At the invitation of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Uganda, the General Association of Guangdong Compatriots in East Africa, and the General Association of Chancheng District, Foshan Compatriots in East Africa, the Overseas Chinese Federation of Chancheng District, Foshan, dispatched a six-member dragon and lion dance team to East Africa to participate in this event.

At the Spring Festival Gala, the dragon and lion team performed traditional lion dances. Life-like lion appearances, traditional Caiqing programs, and the charm of modern high-pole lion dances were presented in a well-connected sequence, serving the audience a splendid "folk feast of lion dance."
The Ugandan overseas Chinese community's Spring Festival Gala, initiated in 2023, has evoked strong homesickness among local overseas Chinese, promoted communication, mutual assistance, unity, and cohesion within the Chinese community, and strengthened the friendly ties between China and Uganda.
On January 21, the dragon and lion team performed a lion dance during the cultural exhibition part of the opening ceremony of the 2025 Uganda-China Tourism and Culture Symposium. The Symposium showcased traditional cultures, historical heritages, and signature cuisines of both China and Uganda, facilitating the exchange and dissemination of culture and art and promoting the development of local tourism.
