Dongguan's Binhaiwan Bay Area is poised to become an innovation development zone for artificial intelligence (AI) in Guangdong. This initiative was announced during the 2025 Dongguan Artificial Intelligence Industry High-Quality Development Conference and the AI Industry Policy Release Event held on April 23. The event aimed to showcase Dongguan's foundational advantages in AI and strengthen industry supply-demand connections.
Interactive robot demonstrations highlighted various AI applications, including Huawei's HarmonyOS Smart Home, Mousse Smart Home, and "Xiao Guan," the intelligent government service assistant. Other attractions featured a "no-employee" retail store and industrial AI solutions. The Binhaiwan "Lingxi No. 1" intelligent entity was unveiled, which engaged attendees with real-time Q&A and promotional activities for the Bay Area.
In addition to unveiling a series of substantial support policies designed to foster AI innovation, the conference facilitated the signing of agreements for four major AI projects with the Binhaiwan New District Management Committee. These projects include the South China Operations Headquarters of Dicesai Intelligent and a humanoid robot core component manufacturing base, injecting new momentum into the region's AI development.
Dongguan also introduced five key initiatives to support the AI industry, such as a batch of computing power vouchers, AI application scenarios, a fund network, and a digital AI government assistant. These initiatives are intended to enhance computing resource utilization, research innovation, and practical applications in the AI sector.
Currently, Binhaiwan is accelerating the planning and construction of the "Lingxi Series" AI industrial space system, which will provide tailored spaces, precise support, and dedicated services for diverse businesses. Among the key projects is the "Lingxi Island" AI Town, set to commence construction this year with an investment of approximately 6.6 billion yuan and a planned area of 780,000 square meters.
