The 14th Jiangmen Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its meeting on February 25.
The "two sessions" meeting in Jiangmen.
On the afternoon of February 26, some CPPCC members from Hong Kong and Macao, overseas Chinese representatives, and honorary citizens of Jiangmen who attended the “two sessions” were invited to participate in a meeting discussing how to build a modern industrial system with greater competitiveness and deepen the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The topic of developing modern services has sparked heated discussions. Participants claimed that modern services are a major engine driving economic growth in Jiangmen, including producer services and consumer services.
Li Ruifang, a member of the Jiangmen Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, offered suggestions for developing modern services.
Li Ruifang, a member of the Jiangmen Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, pointed out that it is necessary to focus on supporting the development of high-end service industries such as financial technology, the digital economy, cultural creativity, and intelligent production. Meanwhile, enterprises should be encouraged to upgrade towards smart manufacturing and knowledge-intensive service sectors by leveraging financial support and policy guidance.
As a disruptive technological driver, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as an innovation accelerator fostering new-quality productive forces in modern service industries. CPPCC member Cui Yan, also a deputy to the National People's Congress, stressed the importance of AI and robotics, positioning them as key drivers of Jiangmen's next-generation industrial growth. He believes it is the right time to embrace AI in manufacturing, education, healthcare, transportation, and so on.
Huang Dadong, a committee member from Hong Kong, emphasized closer cooperation between Jiangmen and Hong Kong.
Huang Dadong highlighted the need for closer cooperation between Jiangmen and Hong Kong, as the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link and HuangmaoSea Channel Bridge were officially opened to traffic. “Jiangmen is adjacent to Hong Kong, where a large elderly population aged 75 and above will be the main consumer group of the silver-haired economy. My suggestions include vigorously supporting several elderly service projects in new forms that are in demand and have a good reputation,” Huang said.
CPPCC member Chen Yonghang urges support for industrial design services. “Industrial design is vital to modern services, driving manufacturing upgrades and boosting product value,” he stated.
Participants put forward opinions and suggestions for promoting the reform and development of Jiangmen, adding that they will play a vital role as a bridge and make more contributions to the modernization of Jiangmen.
