Kapok flowers, also known as "hero flowers" and the city flower of Guangzhou, are set to enter full bloom in March. A series of activities featuring kapok flowers and their symbolism—heroism—kicked off in Guangzhou on March 1.

Starting from March 1, with the theme of passing on the heroes' aspirations and promoting their spirit by enjoying the heroic flowers and visiting the City of Flowers, Guangzhou will carry out a variety of colorful exhibitions, screenings, and research activities, such as the Heart of Kapok (红棉之心), Travel of Kapok (红棉之旅) and Kapok Research (红棉研习).
The opening performances, which included singing and dancing, a short drama, and story-telling, innovatively integrated sci-tech and interactive elements like drones, AI, and a mobile Kapok caravan, presenting the culture of Guangzhou as a heroic city in a multi-dimensional way.
"These songs and short dramas transported us back to historical scenes. The dynamic performances by the younger generation reflect their determination to strive forward in the new era,"said Zhao Jian, a police officer.

Students from the Phoenix Experimental Primary School in Zengcheng District, and the Little Skylark Children's Choir of the Youth Palace in Yuexiu District perform songs such as "Sparking Red Star" and "Heroic Flowers Bloom in the Heroic City".

The Bu Ye Band, together with three Olympic champions including Yang Jinghui, Jiao Liuyang, and Yang Yilin, sing the promotional song for the 15th National Games of the People's Republic of China, extending a sincere invitation from the "Heroic City" to guests across the world and conveying the sports spirit and open-mindedness of the city.
