Accelerating digital trade hub development

The zone is committed to creating a demonstration area for the Global Cross-border Data Flow Cooperation Initiative and establishing a primary channel for national data cross-border transactions to contribute to solving the global challenge of data cross-border flow.

The establishment of the centers aligns with the objectives outlined in the construction plan of the cooperation zone. The zone possesses unique advantages in cross-border scenarios and connectivity, making it an ideal location for fostering digital economic growth, and has already achieved a notable industrial clustering effect.

As of the end of the first quarter, the cooperation zone is home to 113 large-scale digital economy core industry enterprises. Li Chong, deputy director of the zone's executive committee, emphasized that the "Macao + Hengqin" initiative to build a digital trade international hub port is a major innovation aimed at serving the nation's high-level opening-up strategy.

Promoting high-quality development of digital industries

Under the guidance of China’s Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, the cooperation zone's newly launched centers will provide enterprises with a one-stop platform for cross-border data flow planning and compliance guidance, establishing a green channel for data export and large model compliance.

The cooperation zone will also focus on strengthening the artificial intelligence governance system, developing new productive forces, and creating an innovation hub that integrates the digital economy with intelligent technology.

Launch of the first domestic outbound-large model

On the same day, a Portuguese large model, DeeCo-Model, was also released, marking the launch of the first domestic large model targeting Portuguese-speaking countries.

DeeCo-Model demonstrates strong core capabilities. It supports multiple languages and modalities, integrates extensive data assets, and incorporates local cultural elements from Macao and other Portuguese-speaking regions.

The model is designed to facilitate data element cross-border flow and promote the compliant and healthy development of the artificial intelligence industry, while also aiming to cultivate a robust digital economy ecosystem and support the emergence of new productive forces. The launch of this large model highlights Hengqin's role in driving artificial intelligence industry development and its potential to become a digital economy hub for Portuguese-speaking countries.
