RoboMaster 2024 concluded in Shenzhen's Nanshan!

On August 11th, the 23rd National RoboMaster University Championship 2024 closed at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center. The robot teams from Shenzhen University, Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and Southern University of Science and Technology advanced to the national stage!

Over a thousand young engineers from more than 30 university teams gathered at this annual robot competition and academic exchange event to compete for the national championship title. After several days of intense battles, Shanghai Jiao Tong University ultimately emerged as the victor, while South China University of Technology's South China Tiger team, Northeastern University's TDT team, and Zhejiang University's Hello World team secured the second, third, and fourth places, respectively.

The competition, a notable event within the China University Robot Competition series, focuses on examining applied and practical abilities in the fields of science and engineering.

There are complex interdisciplinary subjects for young engineers at the undergraduate level in this year's competition, including the radar that provides a holistic view for the team, the autonomous sentinel robot, and the dart launching system that remotely and accurately hits moving targets. The robot software and hardware are designed, developed, and produced from scratch.

"Diverse and intelligent techniques required in the competition have presented us with additional challenges," remarked Yu Junhui, the team captain from South China University of Technology. With the majority of its members being sophomores, the team must constantly expand their knowledge horizons by drawing from a multitude of related disciplines, including mechanics and artificial intelligence, beyond what is taught in textbooks, in order to uphold their reputation.

This event has evolved into a prominent stage for over 400 higher education institutions, launching around 50,000 young engineers into the professional world, while also fostering industry-university research collaborations with hundreds of universities.

Since its establishment, the Shenzhen University team has sent 10 people to work at DJI and has published 4 related patents since 2018. In 2023, six people were admitted to Tsinghua University Shenzhen International Graduate School, Nankai University, Shenzhen University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, and other universities.
