The newly upgraded Canton Tower Station on the Tram Haizhu Line 1 started operation on July 1.
Located on the east side of the Canton Tower (next to Fortune Pier), the upgraded station is roughly situated at the site of the former Canton Tower East Station. Passengers can reach the station via Exit A of Metro Line 3 (Canton Tower Station) or Passage 2 of APM Line (Canton Tower Station), with about a 6-minute walk required for transfers.
While preserving the original canopy structure, the upgraded station has expanded its interior space to approximately 1.35 times the original size. The platform was transformed from an open design into a railing-enclosed space, with platform screen doors installed along the edges. This redesign establishes separate boarding and alighting zones, significantly improving passenger flow.
Upon completion of the Canton Tower Plaza construction, the second-floor platform will provide direct access to the tram station platform, creating a seamless connection between this landmark and the unique transit system, offering visitors a more cohesive experience.
