The Chaoshan-dialect film "Dear You" has surpassed 200 million yuan (about 29 million USD) in total box office revenue after 15 days in theaters, according to ticketing platform Maoyan. The film has recorded more than 5.98 million admissions and entered the top 15 of China's annual box office chart.

The modestly budgeted production tells a touching story spanning 60 years in Guangdong's Chaoshan region. It centers on qiaopi-- historical documents that combined letters, account records and remittance receipts sent by overseas Chinese to their families.
Since May 10, "Dear You" has topped the daily box office, admissions, occupancy rate and presale box office for four consecutive days. Its projected total box office has risen for nine consecutive days, with forecasts now exceeding 729 million yuan.
On Chinese review platform Douban, "Dear You" currently holds a score of 9.1 out of 10 based on more than 243,000 reviews, with five-star ratings accounting for 61 percent.
Director Lan Hongchun said in an interview that the team aimed to create "a classic old-style film" centered on sincere emotions and heartfelt storytelling.
