China Southern Airlines (CZ) and China Eastern Airlines (MU) have further expanded their flexible ticketing service on the air shuttles between Beijing Daxing International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, allowing eligible passengers to switch between the two carriers' flights without additional fees or fare differences, subject to conditions.
Launched in January 2024, the cross-airline ticket change service enables travelers meeting ticketing criteria to switch between China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines flights on this busy domestic route. The program has now been enhanced to better serve frequent flyers and business travelers seeking greater convenience.
From March 30 to June 20, 2025 (excluding April 10 to May 10), passengers with economy class tickets booked in eligible fare categories—at a 60% or higher fare level—can switch flights between the two airlines within four hours before or after their original departure time at no extra cost. A slightly stricter rule applies from April 10 to May 10, when only economy tickets at 80% or above fare levels qualify for free changes, while those in the 60%-80% range must pay a fare difference.
This service is available only for single-segment, one-way flights between the two airports, and passengers must not have checked luggage. Ticket changes can be requested on the day of departure via designated airline service counters or customer hotlines.
With over 750,000 travelers flying between the two cities in the first quarter of this year alone, and an expected 50+ daily flights during the summer-autumn season, China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines, handling 81% of operations, aim to provide a seamless, efficient travel experience. Additional measures, including increased use of wide-body aircraft and priority boarding arrangements, will ensure smoother operations during peak periods.
