Made-in-China 7.0T MRI Scanner begins operation in Shenzhen's Nanshan

Recently, China's first domestically produced fourth-generation 7.0T MRI scanner was officially put into operation at Nanshan People's Hospital in Nanshan District, Shenzhen.

As the most advanced clinical and research imaging device in the global MRI field, this milestone propels Nanshan People's Hospital to the forefront of international medical imaging technology and research, delivering more precise and efficient healthcare services to the public.

This device is primarily used for neurological diseases, significantly enhancing the sensitivity and specificity in diagnosing conditions such as cerebral small vessel disease, epilepsy, and tumors, thereby providing more accurate diagnostic information.

Notably, this is the first domestically produced 7.0T MRI scanner, manufactured right in Shenzhen's Nanshan District. Siemens Healthineers established its roots in Shenzhen's Nanshan Science and Technology Park in 2002. In September 2024, the company announced the approval of its first domestically produced 7.0T clinical MRI system, marking a significant breakthrough in core technology development.

The Shenzhen base has become one of Siemens Healthineers' largest R&D and production sites outside its headquarters in Germany. As of 2024, the Shenzhen base has shipped over 9,000 complete units to more than 100 countries and regions, achieving an 80% localization rate for product components.
