Macao-Hengqin Talent Card launched with 26 exclusive benefits

The Macao-Hengqin Talent Card, offering 26 exclusive benefits ranging from border-crossing facilitation to healthcare and education services, was unveiled in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin on September 7.

The launch came at a promotional event for the card, alongside a signing ceremony with participating banks.

Designed to connect Guangdong's talent card system and talent service systems across Macao, Zhuhai and Hengqin, the new card aims to provide one-stop support for professionals working and living in the Cooperation Zone.

It brings together a range of benefits targeting professionals living and working across Hengqin and Macao, including easier border crossings, healthcare services, cross-border financial services and support for entrepreneurship.

The scheme also recognizes Macao's talent system, providing professionals introduced to Macao with more comprehensive support in their efforts to work and start businesses in Hengqin.

At the event, representatives of the Cooperation Zone signed service cooperation agreements with Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and China Merchants Bank, marking the official establishment of the card's financial support network.

The three banks have introduced tailored financial benefits for cardholders in the two categories, A and B. These include fee waivers, multi-currency cross-border financial services, dedicated credit and financing options, consumer discounts in Hengqin and Macao, one-to-one private banking advisory services and innovation-focused corporate credit facilities.

The A and B cards feature iconic architecture from Hengqin and Macao, combined with the peach blossom that symbolizes Hengqin's talent community, reflecting the growing integration between the two sides.

The first batch of Macao-Hengqin Talent Cards is expected to be issued by October. Eligible applicants may apply through one or more of the three participating banks, depending on their individual needs, with no limit on the number of applications.

Who can apply?

Applicants of category A include high-level talent recognized in the Cooperation Zone, Macao, Zhuhai or Guangdong; recipients of major national or provincial talent programs; and eligible foreign high-end professionals holding a Foreigner's Work Permit under relevant Category A classifications. Other professionals recognized by the Cooperation Zone's talent authorities as having equivalent qualifications may also apply.

Applicants of category B include eligible foreign high-end professionals under other Category A classifications, holders of doctoral degrees, professionals with associate senior titles or above, and holders of the highest-level technician qualifications.
