Guests attending the Asia-Pacific Media Forum visited OPPO Binhaiwan Park in Dongguan on September 3. At this new landmark known as the "Engineers Playground," the guests gained firsthand insights into the original innovation capabilities of a Chinese tech company.


OPPO started its global presence by entering Thailand in 2009, before deepening its footprint in more Southeast Asian markets such as Vietnam and Indonesia. It landed in India in 2014, expanded into Europe in 2018 and entered Latin America in 2020. Step by step, OPPO has established a presence in major markets across the globe and emerged as a standout of China's smart manufacturing sector.

Indonesia is often described as "a nation on motorbikes," where sudden afternoon downpours are frequent. To adapt to local conditions, OPPO enhanced the touch-screen performance and signal stability of its phones in rain and humidity. It also optimized connection algorithms for weak-network scenarios, as commuters frequently travel by public ferries across the archipelago. In Malaysia, R&D teams noticed that many local users have rounder facial contours and deeper skin tones, and accordingly adjusted light-shadow transition parameters in beauty-filter algorithms to deliver more natural and authentic portraits.

The OPPO Binhaiwan Park demonstrates the upgrading of the company's smart-manufacturing capabilities. With a total investment of nearly 10 billion yuan, the park was brought into operation in phases starting in 2024. It houses the OPPO Global Computing Center, the OPPO Smart Manufacturing Center and OPPO's largest Sports Health Laboratory worldwide. The park hosts around 500 high-level laboratories. Building A5 alone received an investment of more than 3 billion yuan, providing engineers with comprehensive facilities from technical concept development to prototype validation.

Spanning over 4,800 square meters, the Sports Health Laboratory contains more than 20 sub-laboratories focusing on sports, cardiovascular health, sleep and lifestyle-related research. Its sub-units cover specialized areas including human exercise physiology, environmental simulation, body composition and energy metabolism, motion capture and clinical biochemistry, with more than 100 specialized R&D and testing capabilities. Findings from the laboratory have been directly applied to multiple product lines including the OPPO Watch series, bringing research outcomes to users across the world.
