The 2026 Dengtang Pineapple Food & Culture Week is being held at Tangxuan Cuizhujing Ecological Park in Dengtang Town, Chao'an District (潮安区登塘镇唐炫翠竹境生态园), Chaozhou. Launched on April 30, the six-day event will run through May 5.
Centered on Dengtang's signature pineapple industry, the event features sections on culinary experiences, intangible cultural heritage (ICH) skills, livestreaming e-commerce, and cultural tourism and leisure, among others.
Blessed with fertile soil and favorable natural conditions, Dengtang has long been an ideal place for pineapple cultivation. In recent years, Dengtang Town has steadily expanded its pineapple industry by promoting large-scale and standardized planting, as well as improved varieties. As a result, the quality and reputation of its pineapples have continued to improve.
Pineapple plantations in Dengtang now cover nearly 3,000 mu (200 hectares) across 12 administrative villages, forming contiguous, large-scale planting bases with an annual fresh fruit output of 3,000 tonnes. Specialty varieties such as Sarawak pineapples, known for their crisp, sweet, juicy, and fiberless flesh, are sold in many markets outside the town.
Tangxuan Pineapple Ecological Park (唐炫菠萝生态园) is a signature pineapple-themed agriculture, culture, and tourism park that Dengtang has prioritized for development. Covering 1.8 hectares, the park cultivates more than 20 specialty pineapple varieties, with a focus on the locally grown premium Sarawak pineapple. Combining agricultural science education, fruit-picking experiences, DIY food activities, and leisure entertainment, the park is equipped with a non-powered playground, photo spots popular on social media, and streamside water-play facilities. It also offers family-friendly leisure activities and group team-building packages year-round, and hosts the annual Pineapple Food & Culture Week.
In recent years, Dengtang Town has also developed pineapple-themed study-tour activities. Tangxuan Cuizhujing Ecological Park, the venue for this year's event, has drawn on its bamboo groves and natural streams to create a bamboo culture ICH experience complex. The park features a bamboo culture exhibition hall and bamboo-weaving workshops, where visitors can immerse themselves in traditional Chaozhou bamboo-weaving craftsmanship.
It also offers ecological experience programs such as bamboo-grove trails, nature sketching, and streamside water play, supported by facilities including bamboo-grove homestays and farmhouse dining.
