During the 618 Shopping Festival (from May 16 to June 18), Guangzhou Customs supervised a total of 69.47 million cross-border e-commerce retail import and export declarations, up 3.6% year-on-year.
The 618 Shopping Festival is the second-largest online shopping day in China, comparable to “Black Friday” in the West, and its duration has increased.
During this period, retail import declarations reached 8.406 million, an increase of 13.1%, with major imports including food, cosmetics, and infant formula. Retail export declarations totaled 61.063 million, up 2.4%, with key exports including clothing, plastic products, and leather goods.
Nansha Customs supervised and cleared 6.43 million bonded import declarations for cross-border online shopping. At peak times, up to 380,000 import declarations were handled in a single day.
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, a core hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, has attracted many leading cross-border e-commerce enterprises. Baiyun Airport Customs handles around 30,000 import declarations for cross-border e-commerce daily, about 40% higher than usual. A total of approximately 780,000 import declarations have been processed.
Customs authorities provide 24-hour smart clearance services to enhance efficiency and help enterprises reduce costs. Guangzhou’s cross-border e-commerce sector continues to expand rapidly and has become a new driving force for foreign trade growth.
