The orienteering finals for the masses of the 15th National Games were held in Maoming, Guangdong, from May 8 to May 11. The opening ceremony featured a vibrant display of the city's intangible cultural heritage and tourism performances, offering a cultural feast that highlighted the unique charm of this "Coastal Green City."
The performance blended Maoming's intangible cultural heritage with its signature geographical indication products, featuring standout programs such as the opening dance "Maoming, Here We Come", the coastal-themed "Take You to See Maoming's Sea", the culinary-inspired "He · The Taste of Home", and the original Cantonese opera "Lychee Bonds in Maoming". It also spotlighted local industries like tangerine peel and lychee, along with the cultural legacy of Lady Xian.
The performances were presented by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Art Troupe of Guangdong Preschool Normal College in Maoming, a nationally recognized model for art education. Committed to preserving and revitalizing traditional culture, the college creatively integrates art and tourism, earning recognition as a "Growth Tree" urban-rural aesthetic education demonstration project in Guangdong. The troupe has showcased its work at numerous national and provincial events.
The troupe has actively participated in tourism promotion events across various regions and is preparing for upcoming performances at the Baiqiao Service Area launch and the Lychee & Longan Industry Conference. They will also debut the large-scale original musical "The Huaiyang Uprising" at the end of June.
