From January to May 2025, the total import and export value of bonded repair services in Guangdong reached 21.77 billion yuan, marking an 8.01% year-on-year increase.
Bonded repair, also known as global repair, refers to a business model where enterprises leverage customs bonded policies to import goods with damaged components, functional failures, or quality defects into China for inspection, repair, and re-export.
Customs in Guangdong have adopted a categorized management approach, tailoring clearance facilitation measures for each enterprise under the one policy per enterprise model. Smart customs technologies are also applied to streamline bonded repair processes, significantly reducing the time required.
VIVO, a leading smartphone company, has been actively expanding into overseas markets. "The implementation of bonded repair services for smartphones has strengthened our collaboration with global clients and opened up new growth opportunities," said a VIVO representative.
Dongguan DPT Electronics primarily repairs display modules used in consumer electronics. In 2024, the total value of its bonded repair import and export operations exceeded 300 million dollars. Recently, 435,000 repaired smartphone display modules were exported overseas.
Customs authorities will continue to support eligible enterprises in applying for bonded repair qualifications, helping Guangdong companies establish global repair hubs.
