On June 1, the 2025 Guangdong KOM Hill Climb Challenge was held in Qianpai, Xinyi—"China's Plum Hometown"—drawing nearly 600 cyclists to conquer a 9.22-kilometer course. Riders were captivated by scenic views of plum orchards, bamboo forests, and waterfalls. After the race, Sanhua plums and a bamboo-themed feast had many vowing, "We'll be back next year!"

The event featured men's road and mountain bike races, as well as women's and recreational categories. The 613-meter climb from Lihua Valley to Yinyan'ao, passing through the "Shanshui Shuanghe" scenic area, included gradients of up to 10%—a true test of endurance. Despite steep ascents and sweat-soaked jerseys, cyclists pressed on, inspired by fresh air and stunning views.
Cheng Liangqiong (men's road), Hu Tiantian (men's MTB), and Zhang Tingting (women's) took top honors in their categories. Hu called the course "one of the toughest in the country" and praised the event's organization, vowing to return. Zhang highlighted the stunning scenery and fresh air as key to her strong performance.
After the race, riders enjoyed Xinyi's signature Sanhua plums and a bamboo banquet featuring tender shoots and fragrant bamboo-tube rice. Many praised the challenging course, delicious food, and scenic views, promising to return.
