As there is only one week to go before Chinese New Year, the Liede International Neighborhood in Guangzhou is hosting a New Year market this Friday to Sunday for the locals to get an early festive touch.

Taking the name “Liede Good Market”, the market features over 30 independent designers and artisans bringing stylish Chinese New Year decorations, from intricate woodcuts to elegant Spring Festival scrolls and fresh flowers.

Yet the "Good Market" is not just a marketplace, but a cross-cultural journey allowing visitors to discover ‘the good' in life. It offers both Cantonese and European food, as well as performances and workshops celebrating both Guangdong traditions and the rich heritage of French and Spanish cultures.

As it opened on Friday, the market attracted visitors from countries such as France, Colombia, Britain, and Spain. Jean-Olivier, a Frenchman from one of the market co-organizers—CCI FRANCE CHINE, joined the celebrations and welcomed more people to join in: “This kind of seasonal holiday time is always a good time to gather, meet, discover each other’s culture, try new things, make new friends, and meet old friends.”
