After days of relentless downpours, Guangdong Province is finally set to dry out and heat up. Starting May 22, rainfall across the province will weaken significantly, as temperatures steadily rise, according to the provincial meteorological observatory.

May 22: Thunderstorms with locally heavy rain or rainstorms are forecast for Shaoguan, Qingyuan, and Zhaoqing. Other cities will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs will range from 32°C to 35°C on the Leizhou Peninsula, from 27°C to 29°C in Shaoguan, Qingyuan, and Zhaoqing, and from 29°C to 32°C in most other areas.
May 23: Most of the province will turn cloudy, with scattered thunderstorms in northern Guangdong. Highs will reach 34°C to 36°C on the Leizhou Peninsula, 28°C to 29°C in Shaoguan, Qingyuan, and Zhaoqing, and 30°C to 33°C elsewhere.
May 24: The province will be mostly cloudy to sunny. Highs will range from 34°C to 36°C on the Leizhou Peninsula, Zhaoqing, Yunfu, and Meizhou, and from 30°C to 33°C in other areas.
Guangzhou: The provincial capital will see cloudy to mostly cloudy skies with thunderstorms on May 22 (24°C to 30°C), turning mostly cloudy on May 23 (24°C to 32°C) and May 24 (24°C to 33°C).
Despite the improving weather, the provincial meteorological observatory has urged residents to remain vigilant. Given the extreme rainfall the province has already experienced, there is a delayed risk of geological disasters, including landslides and mudslides, which may occur hours or even days after heavy rain events.
