Four Nobel laureates, including 2026 winner, to speak at Greater Bay Area Science Forum

The 2026 Greater Bay Area Science Forum (GSF) will bring four Nobel laureates to South China, with one of the 2026 Nobel laureates in Physiology or Medicine delivering a keynote address, organizers announced at a press conference in Guangzhou on October 27.

Scheduled for October 31 to November 2, the forum will be held jointly across Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, focusing on future industries and frontier technologies. The opening ceremony and main forum will take place in Guangzhou's Nansha District on November 1, with parallel events in Hong Kong and the Guangdong cities of Shenzhen, Huizhou, Dongguan and Yangjiang.

This year's event features an opening ceremony, a main forum, 15 specialized sub-forums and 10 featured activities. Besides the Nobel laureates, renowned academicians, young scientists and tech entrepreneurs will share their latest research and insights. The forum will also release the "Disruptive Technology Outlook 2026" report, with sub-forums dedicated to artificial intelligence, life sciences and future networks.

Compared with previous sessions, this year's forum places a stronger emphasis on translating scientific influence into innovation momentum. A series of major policy releases and cooperation agreements are expected.

Key outcomes will include the release of support policies for the International Science and Innovation Center, the launch of two national key R&D programs led by Guangdong, and the signing of major tech cooperation projects.

Moreover, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao will deepen collaboration by signing work plans for university tech cooperation and joint funding agreements for joint laboratories. The forum will also launch a platform to facilitate the commercialization of sci-tech achievements, hosting matchmaking conferences to connect research outcomes with industry and financial resources.

Initiated in 2021 by the governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the GSF serves as a high-level platform for scientific exchange and cooperation.
