On October 7, the seventh day of the National Day holiday and Mid-Autumn Festival, the China Railway Guangzhou Group experienced a surge in return travel, expecting to handle 2.593 million passengers.
To manage this increase, the bureau arranged a robust schedule of 3,627 trains for the day, including 516 additional services on key routes such as the Beijing-Guangzhou, Hangzhou-Shenzhen, Shenzhen-Zhanjiang, and Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong lines.
These extra trains primarily served major cities like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha, and Wuhan. Additionally, 252 overnight high-speed trains were scheduled for the early hours of October 8th, heading towards Changsha, Chaoshan, and Zhanjiang.
The passenger flow was predominantly characterized by return journeys, with travelers moving from smaller surrounding cities and tourist destinations back to major hubs like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Changsha.
To ensure a smooth travel experience, major stations such as Guangzhou South Station, Shenzhen North Station, and Changsha South Station opened all available exit channels. Volunteers were deployed to assist with passenger guidance and streamline transfers. Stations also enhanced support for elderly passengers and those with special needs by maintaining traditional ticket counters and manual check-in services.
Travelers are reminded to double-check their ticket information, especially regarding the departure station, and to allow ample time for urban transit and station security checks to avoid delays during this busy period.
