On May 9, a press conference for the Deaf Football match of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games was held in Foshan. It was announced that the Deaf Football competition will be the first summer event of this year's Games and will take place from May 15 to 25 at the Century Lotus Sports Center and Nanhai Sports Center in Foshan.

The event has attracted 12 teams from across the country to compete. Among them, one athlete from Foshan will be participating — Lu Yongjian from Sanshui District.

Nanhai District is the primary host area for the event. The stadium at Nanhai Sports Center has been upgraded to international accessibility standards, featuring high-contrast signage, vibration alert devices, anti-slip ramps, and Braille guidance. Professional sign language interpreters will be present throughout the event. A total of 630 volunteers will use sign language and warm smiles to convey the welcoming spirit of Foshan.
