Latin American journalists marvel at Canton Fair Complex, express desire to bring humanoid robots home

A delegation of 20 journalists from 17 Latin American countries visited Guangzhou on December 2 as part of the series of events for the 2025 Understanding China Conference held from Nov 30 to Dec 2.

The delegation visited the Canton Fair complex, expressing profound admiration for its scale and a particular fascination with cutting-edge technologies like humanoid robots.

The visit, which included watching an exhibition on the history and development of the Canton Fair, as well as walking through exhibition halls and the Canton Fair Convention Center, offered a firsthand look at China's premier trade platform. Journalists stated they wished to bring the technologies and innovations from the Canton Fair back to their home countries.

Sergi Lara Garcia, a columnist for larepublics.net in Costa Rica, was amazed by the infrastructure. "This fair, in my opinion, features infrastructure I've never seen before," he stated. He went on to emphasize its global standing, calling it "one of the biggest fairs in the world" and summarizing his impression in one word: "incredible!"

Yesenia Peredo, a journalist from Bolivia, highlighted the fair's relevance to her home country and the global economy. "The Canton Fair is amazing!" she said. "Many Bolivians come here to import products from China." She pointed out that the Canton Fair is extremely important, underscoring its central role in international trade.

When asked what products they would most like to bring home from the Canton Fair, her answer focused on the future: the technology of robots or humanoids. She explained that these technologies are essential for facilitating the work of many companies in Bolivia, seeing them as key tools for driving industrial and economic development.

This interest aligns with the fair's ongoing shift toward high-tech and intelligent manufacturing displays, moving beyond traditional commodity trade.
