Youth debate launched in Guangzhou, promoting copyright awareness

On the afternoon of March 21, the 8th "Creative City · Youth Debate" Guangzhou University Students' Debate Invitational Tournament was launched at Guangdong University of Finance in Guangzhou, focusing on awareness of copyright protection.

Guangzhou, recognized as a national copyright demonstration city, has been continuously promoting awareness of copyright protection through this event. Since its inception in 2017, the tournament has evolved into a well-known national copyright publicity brand.

This year, the event has been comprehensively upgraded to include 24 universities from the "9+2" cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), including four institutions from Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, 12 from Guangzhou, and one each from Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Jiangmen, Dongguan, Zhongshan, and Zhaoqing. Nearly a thousand university students are set to engage in intense debates on copyright-related topics.

Following the launch ceremony, a unique friendly exchange match marked the beginning of the event. The champion team of the 7th debate tournament, the Guangdong University of Finance Law School debate team, competed against the Guangzhou Lawyers debate team. The latter won the "Most Professional Charm Award," while the former received the "Most Youthful Vitality Award."

This year's tournament will combine online and offline formats, featuring a total of 31 matches across four stages, using the same debate topic.

The debate topics for this year's tournament are closely aligned with the theme of the 15th National Games, incorporating hot topics such as AI, live sports broadcasting, and sports music. Through a debate topic seminar involving well-known experts from the fields of national copyright, sports, and technology, the topics have been carefully designed to allow young participants to explore the balance between copyright protection and sports development through debate.

The event has also invited eight well-known figures from the fields of copyright, debate, and sports to serve as ambassadors for the tournament. To further enhance the professionalism of the event, a panel of experts from the Guangzhou Copyright Expert Database and the debate community will provide professional judgment and guidance throughout the competition.
