The troupe, led by Zhao Weibin, an inheritor of Guangdong's lion dance intangible cultural heritage, featured students from the American International School of Guangzhou (AISG), who brought two lively red lions to life with their agile movements.

The performance impressed over 400 guests at the event, including UN representatives from more than 100 countries, senior officials of the UN Secretariat, and other guests from various sectors. One UN representative praised the students' performance, noting that it not only showcased the beauty of Chinese traditional arts but also conveyed a message of unity and friendship.

The Guangdong lion dance is distinct for its agility and fluid movements, different from the more robust style in North China. It symbolizes good fortune and joy, making it a perfect fit for the New Year celebrations.
