First mass competition event of 15th National Games to kick off in Maoming on May 8

The orienteering event of the mass competitions of the 15th National Games will officially kick off in Maoming on May 8 and conclude on May 11, Wang Xiaohui, vice mayor of the Maoming Municipal People's Government, announced at a press conference held on April 28 at the Maoming Museum.

The press conference for the Maoming division of the 15th National Games is held at the Maoming Museum.

This event marks the first mass sports competition of the 15th National Games. It will take place in multiple locations, including Dianbai District, Gaozhou, Huazhou, and Maoming New Town. The event includes six major competitions: men's team orienteering, women's team orienteering, a relay race, and the team radio direction finding competition. A total of 23 teams and 438 athletes from 23 provinces (including autonomous regions and cities) will participate, with the first gold medal to be awarded in Baiqiao Village, Genzi Town, Gaozhou.

In terms of support services, four high-standard reception hotels have been selected to provide "one-to-one" precise services. Pick-up and drop-off points have been established, and special vehicles have been allocated to ensure transportation. A professional medical team has been formed, and a green channel for medical treatment has been opened. Additionally, 500 event volunteers and local service teams have been recruited and trained.

Kind-hearted Maoming is waiting for you.

During the event, stalls for the exhibition and sale of intangible cultural heritage items will be set up on-site. Participants and guests will also have the opportunity to visit and experience the local lychee orchards.

To promote the mutual development of national fitness and local economies, Maoming plans to leverage the event to attract visitors by designing "National Games-themed tour" routes. These routes will connect major attractions such as the Baiqiao Lychee Expo Garden, Fangji Island, Romantic Coast, and the First Beach of China. It is expected that over 100,000 people will come to watch the games and explore the city, boosting consumption in tourism, catering, accommodation, and other sectors.
