Recently, Xinyi City in Maoming, Guangdong, a well-known hometown for overseas Chinese, announced that its "Roots-Seeking" service system has helped reunite 128 separated families.

A heartwarming reunion took place in Dingbao Town, where Liang Yaowei returned from Malaysia with his family after 36 years of separation. Through cross-boundary coordination, Liang finally reunited with his cousin Liang Yaobin and presented a banner of appreciation to the Xinyi Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese to show his appreciation. Li Na, vice chairperson of the Federation, noted that this case exemplifies their services. During a business delegation visit to Malaysia in 2023, over 70 successful reunions were achieved through online-offline collaboration.

Since 2023, the city's Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Overseas Chinese Business Association have jointly conducted special services across 20 townships, completing operations in 17 townships with over 300 registered cases.

The city is utilizing modern technologies, including DNA matching and diaspora databases, to connect generations of overseas Chinese descendants with their ancestral roots.
