"We've been doing this for over a decade," said dragon boat team leader Brother Chao. At 7 a.m. on May 29, Brother Chao led his team to row a dragon boat for an hour to Longan Village, Leliu Town, Shunde District, Foshan for the eye-dotting ceremony.

As a provincial intangible cultural heritage with over 600 years of history, the "Dragon Eye-Dotting" ritual is believed to infuse dragon boats with spiritual energy. Every Lunar May 3, over 100 dragon boats from across the Pearl River Delta gather in Longyan Village to perform this tradition.
On that day, drums roared as dragon boats clustered in the river before the ceremony platform. Tourists and locals lined the banks to snap photos, often splashing water playfully with crew members—a lively scene!

"No dragon boat event is complete without a feast!" At noon, over 100 tables for the "Dragon Welcoming Feast" served classic Shunde dishes like Hongyun roast pork (lucky red roast pork), fragrant scallion oil chicken, and green fish balls with auspicious vegetables.
