Led by the Industrial Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, 10 Hengqin enterprises jointly exhibited at the 2026 China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo, held from September 11 to September 13.
The expo featured an international medical tourism exhibition area for the first time. The Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao partnered with several time-honored brands to present programs including consultations with renowned traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) doctors, health products based on food-medicine homology, DIY TCM handicraft activities and cultural study tours.
Resort hotels in the zone also showcased supporting services such as meridian conditioning and medicinal cuisine, offering visitors an integrated experience spanning diagnosis and treatment, wellness and sightseeing.
During the expo, Hengqin and Macao jointly promoted premium multi-stop itineraries and entry-exit facilitation measures for tour groups, integrating TCM wellness into cross-border tourism products and creating themed routes that combine sightseeing in Macao with wellness experiences in Hengqin.
According to the bureau, as of August 31 this year, the cooperation zone had organized more than 45,000 outbound tour groups and received 234,500 participant visits. From January 1 to August 31 this year, participant visits reached 124,000, exceeding the total for the whole of 2025 and up 139.1 percent year on year.
